PASADENA TOURNAMENT OF ROSES
2019-2020 BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Tournament of Roses Foundation elected Brian Birnie, Glenn Bowie, Judy Gordon, Krysty Leckrone, Leslie Lyons, Joan Madsen, Brandon Shamim, and Kristin Yanish to the 2019-2020 Board of Directors. We would like to thank our outgoing board members Alex Aghajanian, Nancy Neal-Davis, Jerri Price-Gaines and Phil Orozco for providing years of outstanding service and leadership.
The Foundation Board also elected officers: Maxine Harris, President; Shannon Boalt, Vice President; Paige Parrish, Treasurer; and Mark Harmsen, Secretary. Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association Vice-President, Mark Leavens will join the Foundation board to replace Executive Committee Secretary, Alex Aghajanian.

PASADENA TOURNAMENT OF ROSES FOUNDATION
GRANT AWARDS RECIPIENT
The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Foundation is proud to announce its 2019 grant awards totaling $200,000 presented to 23 organizations in the San Gabriel Valley. These grants will support new and ongoing programs benefiting children, teens, adults and seniors. The twenty three community programs received grants in the categories of Performing and Visual Arts, Sports and Recreation, and Education (Early Childhood Education, Literacy and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
An Awards Reception was held at the Tournament House on Tuesday, June 11th to celebrate the 23 organizations. A complete list of the 2019 Tournament of Roses Foundation grant recipients, along with brief descriptions, can be found at www.tournamentofroses.com/foundation.

ROSE BOWL GAME YOUTH CLINIC
This year’s Rose Bowl Game Youth Football Clinic and Health & Fitness Day will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Rose Bowl Stadium. This free clinic provides the opportunity to meet and work with coaches from the NFL and local colleges. Activities include running offensive, defensive and agility drills, learning proper techniques to promote on-field safety, and understanding the importance of character development and good sportsmanship. NONPROFIT BOARD MANAGEMENT WITH JERICHO ROADS
On June 12, 2019 the Pasadena Tournament of Roses hosted the annual "Effective Board Training" workshop with Jericho Roads. With over 65 in attendance at the Tournament House, board members of local nonprofit agencies were given the resources needed to better serve their respective organizations.

LEVELUP3 CONFERENCE
 
The Youth Leadership Network, a collaborative group of youth serving organizations in Pasadena, has partnered with the Pasadena Tournament of Roses to co-produce LevelUP3. This free two-day Youth Leadership Conference features local top tier speakers and trainers. This event will be held at the Pacific Oaks College on Thursday, July 18 and Friday, July 19 and is ideal for ages 12-18. To learn more visit https://www.collaboratepasadena.org/levelup.

FIVE ACRES' 2019 DESERT OASIS GALA
On Saturday June 1st, our 2020 Pasadena Tournament of Roses President, Laura Farber, and husband, Tomas Lopez, attended Five Acres’ 2019 Desert Oasis Gala. This annual event brings together children and family advocates in raising funds in support of programs designed to keep at-risk families together and connect foster youth with loving, permanent families of their own.
